The Dell

Are you familiar with The Dell? It’s a truly unique and tranquil spot, located within a beautiful 19th-century marl digging. When you enter through the bank and step into the hand-dug amphitheatre-like terrain, you’ll immediately feel calm and secluded. Take a seat on the rustic perch bench and enjoy the view of two shallow dark ponds, bordered by beautiful marginal Irises that contrast wonderfully with the lush greenery above. The sound of rustling leaves and sweet bird song will create a peaceful soundtrack, and you might even be joined by an inquisitive grey squirrel or catch a glimpse of a timid muntjac or bushy-tailed fox. When you’re ready to explore more, you can follow the track that heads towards a gentle ascending slope. As you walk, you might spot a Jay or be entranced by the melodious trills of the virtuoso Robin. Overall, spending time in The Dell can be a wonderful way to rejuvenate and find inspiration in nature’s healing beauty.
